Feature request: per page performance booster

Hi,

I'm having difficulty with some manga's rendering pages, it takes a while to load pages with a higher resolution. After some investigation, I wrote myself a *horrible plugin* to switch governors, so I can switch to on-demand or performance to read those. Can't really say if it impacts the battery, but it works quite well.

Would it be possible to automate this ?

1. Define acceptable load time eg: max 3s
2. Measure page load time
3. Mark them as problematic in the SDR:
# pages that need a boost
performance=15
on-demand=7,19,21,34
4. Switch to a higher governor the next time that page is loaded
5. Switch back to default after loading.

if cbz how much "higher resolution"?

For better manga performance, you need to convert all of its images to proper 8-bit grayscale with dithering. See KOReader User Guide: http://koreader.rocks/user_guide/#manga

Thanks guys, but I do not need your solution (although very much appreciated ), I would really like to discuss my ask, pro's cons etc..

Nope all CBZ, and they double in resolution (2 pages merged as one)

Ugly workarounds are ok as long as never hit upstream and are not announced as supposed solutions.

There is a lot of unused CPU power, conversion is kind of a last resort. Maybe I can switch governors based on the resolution of the page being loaded. I think that would be a better approach.
