How do you handle your To Buy, Beg, or Borrow List? Calibre WishList?
I have books on wishlists at amazon and a couple public libraries. The public library ones I can't keep notes on who recommended them and why I wanted to read them (if by the time I get to them it's still relevant).
I thought I'd like to just consolidate this list in one place with my notes about who recommended the books, why I'm interested. Maybe notes on other resources or reviews. What do you do? Do you create empty listings? Maintain a centralized list somewhere? Is there a calibre trick or hack that works for you? |

As far as I know. I would create a custom column of long text separated by comma with default value.
From preference add your custom column. You should always have the books on your Amazon wish list uploaded to Caliber, whether they are epub or uploaded through isnb (add books by isbn). And in the column that I suggest you add: Amazon Wishes, Recommended by xxx, Interesting read |

Might be some useful suggestions here... https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=347049
Personally I use stub files in Calibre. And now with the new Notes system, you could add comments to them. |

While keeping separate Amazon and library wishlists works for now, consolidating to a single, central list with notes sounds ideal. You can create empty Calibre entries and link them to your existing wishlists for ease of management. This allows adding information like recommender, reading rationale, and external resources, all within Calibre.
This centralized approach eliminates redundancies and keeps everything organized in one place, readily accessible for borrowing or purchasing decisions. If Calibre lacks desired features, consider exploring dedicated tools like Goodreads or BookBuddy, which excel at wishlisting with rich annotation options. Ultimately, the best approach depends on your desired level of detail and preferred platform, so experiment and find what works best for your literary journey! |

I have a library in calibre only for my wishlist. I create empty books with all the metadata, and I use them for searching at the libraries, to check if they appear and to mark my holds.
