Unhappy Custom Column Help

No idea if this is the correct place to put this, but i'm kinda desperate at this point. I have no idea what i did wrong and feel like i'm going insane!

  1. wanted to try and create sub-categories of custom column #relationships or #characters within custom column #fandom, reflected in the tag browser for easy navigation like how ao3 works.
  2. was messing around with my custom columns, in case i needed to change something there. in order to change column type, i was forced to delete my existing #characters column.
  3. sadly this deleted all of the character column metadata that fanficfare had populated my entire library with (this is me being dumb, of course it did).
  4. waited 4 hours for fff update to re-load that data in for me.
  5. once finally finished, i look at my character column, and now everything is seperated by & instead of , ?????
  • my last character column was "Comma seperated text, like tags, shown in the Tag browser".
  • when i realized i'd screwed up and went to re-make the column, i set it to "Comma seperated text, like tags, shown in the Tag browser" again.
  • when i look inside the Edit custom column tab, it shows that it is set up as "Comma seperated text, like tags, shown in the Tag browser".
  • but in the Add your own columns menu, it says its "Ampersand seperated text, shown in the Tag browser". and again, my entire characters column is showing &'s instead of ,'s. i did not select this.

did i find a bug???? what is happening??? please help. i have no idea how i managed this just by remaking a column. sorry if this is not the right place to ask this, i have no idea how forums work.

I suggest it's because you checked the 'Contains names' box:

this worked, thank you so much!!

i have no idea why it did that, i thought that "contains names" had more to do with how partitioning hierarchies worked in the tag browser and how it sorts things over there. not sure why indicating that something contains proper nouns/names would force all commas to turn into &'s...but at least i don't have to re-import everything again!

If you're not sure of what something does, hover your mouse over it and you should get a tooltip… like the one I've shown.
