Lightbulb Suggestions for new Caliber features

As mesmas tags correspondentes.

1 - When we mark a book when restarting caliber, this marking disappears. Wouldn't the advantage of marking be leaving the book marked even after leaving Caliber?

2 - Many technical books accompany multimedia formats such as video and sound. An example of this is language courses. It would be interesting to be able to attach other files such as audio, video or even text formats to each book. So in the metadata when we were going to edit it we could attach other files that are part of the book and give them information.

3 - Creation of users with password and various permissions within the library. This would make it easier for children to use, for example. It should also be possible for the library administrator to know what has been read and how long it has been read.

4 - When we use the server to access caliber over the network, it is not possible to read the book without transferring it. The book was to remain exclusive to the library and he would only transfer it if authorized by the administrator. This way, the administrator would be able to control the time that the user is in the library. If Caliber was capable of limiting the user's time. We are not just talking about hours but for example: the user chooses the book and is given a reading deadline, after which the user loses access to the book. This encourages reading, making the user accountable.

5 - Caliber organizes the books by the name of the authors, making manual access impossible! Caliber should be able to let the user organize folders as they see fit. And that includes by tag name. In a very simple way! For example: the book "War Journalism" would be in the Communication/Journalism folder. The same matching tags.

That would defeat the whole purpose of Marks, which is to be transient, they were originally implemented via a plugin called Temporary Marks

You can add non ebook files of any type to any book, but only one of any type - i.e one MP3, one PPTX, etc. Simplest way is to drag and drop the file(s) into the Book Details panel.

I get the impression you want to use calibre in an education institution, can you confirm that?

Calibre organises books via a relational database, the author & book folders and files in a calibre library are nothing more than a convenient storage mechanism.

Read the Frequently Asked Questions section of the calibre User Manual and the sticky threads at the top of this subforum.

Thank you for sharing your information and your interest. I am a huge admirer of the caliber and I believe that the author of the project is going very far.

About your first response regarding appointments. I found an alternative way to indicate the books we are reading, want to read, etc., by adding a column with these indications. Then just use the search and that's it. I still think that the caliber should have an official way of having these functions.

I already thought about using it in one of the schools where I work, but I gave up on the idea because I thought it still lacked administration resources. This function of sharing caliber on the same network is still very limited. However, I believe that the author is capable of strengthening Caliber. I see more and more interest in this type of software, even more so that digital books are increasingly a reality.

Hug!
