Copying all the configuration to another machine

Needing to have Calibre running on a second box away from home, is there a simple way to copy, "in toto", all the configuration I am comfortable with ?

TIA, Ron in Paraguay.

Yes, just copy the entire configuration folder (on Windows, it's usually in User/AppData/Roaming, the entire folder named calibre) and paste to the same location on the other computer.

Be aware, though, that accessing the same library on two different computers will result in data corruption.

Also "simple" but very slow is a complete export - import of Calibre.

On Linux the settings might be ~/.config/calibre

Thank you; worked perfectly after I found that, under Linux, it lived at ~/.config/calibre !

Many thanks.

You can go to Preferences->Miscellaneous to find where the configuration folder is.

It's easiest to copy the config directory to a flash drive and then copy it from the flash drive to the other computer.

Depends on the OS, flash drive format and what networking you might have. Probably best zipped then zip file copied for Flash.

Also if the OSes are different the Export - Import may be best?

Most people (myself included) just use the flash drive as it comes formatted. So that's not an issue.

However, if the two computers can be networked or are networked, then a direct copy is best.

If it is different OSes, just run calibre in the destination machine and then go to Preferences to find out where the settings go so you can overwrite them.

I always reformat. They can come with unfriendly stuff pre-installed (not always actual malware). Also they are usually FAT32 or exFAT which can mess up file transfers in subtle ways.
