Lost my library

Hi all! I updated calibre and my library disappeared. When I tried to add my books from my files, only some of them came through. when I tried again, I got more duplicates than books in my library. I'm restoring my database now (hopefully that doesn't ruin everything) but any thoughts on what I may have done wrong would be helpful.

I find calibre so exhausting and time consuming I no longer use it. I also have tons of dupes. i just gave up trying lol

If you keep re-adding books trying to correct a minor problem ( or just using the stores app folder every time, you will frequently get dups.

There are settings that will help reduce the chance, but not a cure for a poor work flow. Fixing metadata in the Library will confuse the dup check (they are now different)

Find Duplicates Plugin, can help... BUT it should not be used blindly (false positives for many valid reasons).
