Why use "Highlight search results instead of restricting list to results"? Benefits?

In Calibre/Preferences/Searching: What's the benefit of using "Highlight search results instead of restricting the book list to the results"? Who of you use this and why?

I use that once in a while in my Intake library where I have a limited number of books that I am searching and am looking at differences between metadata. It does make an error in series information stand out for an example.

I have the Show a quick toggle button to switch between highlighting and restricting results next to the Search bar option checked.

Then I can decide which is more appropriate in context of what I'm doing. Mostly I use Filter - i.e. only show books that satisfy the search expression.

Find duplicates uses it to show Pairs, but normally I keep it off.

Yes, the Quality Check plugin (which I find super helpful!) can show duplicates either all at once, or one set of duplicates at a time. In this instance, I prefer to see all the duplicates at once.
