Patches for 4.38.23684

Firmware 4.38.23684 is for the Libra 2.

This thread is for the patches for the new firmware 4.38.23684. Most of the patches work. It may work for later firmware. I cannot say as I've not tried.

All of the patchers have been updated thanks to @geek1011

I would like to thank @aardvark for the original updated Windows .exe, geek1011 for fixing all of patchers and @jackie-w and @Semwize for help in updating some of the patches.

Use the file kobopatch.yaml to override the no to yes for each patch you want to apply. I cannot say all the patches work. Most of them do apply. If you have any issue with any of the patches, just post about the issue.

This is the same format as the patches for 4.38.23648.

has been updated to Increase size of kepub/audio chapter progress chart so that:

• chapter progress barcharts for both kepub and audiobooks can be similarly enlarged. Users who never read audiobooks can still use the new one without issue.
• this patch is no longer reliant on a constantly-changing BaseAddress hex offset so should survive further firmware upgrades without needing to be updated every time.

The update nickel.yaml is now included in the ZIP for the patches.

Thanks to @jackie_w, nickel.yaml has been updated and fixes some patches that previously did not work as well as jackie_w Screensaver full in the custom yaml and Remove forgot pin button from lock screen.

Does Custom Sleep/Power-off timeout work now? It was reported as not a few months ago.

I've forgotten about that one. It never worked for the power-off part. I'm the one who suggested it and it never worked correctly. However, there is one thing to try that may or may not work. Turn on the power-off timeout and then in the config file, see if you can find the line that has the timeout and change the value to something else.

You could try it to see if the power-off part works. The sleep part does work.

I've changed the value to 2880 which is 2 days. I'll know in the morning if it maybe works or not. If the Libra 2 is not off in the morning, I'll know it might work.

It's not a patch I use but I've no reason to believe it doesn't work. At least it doesn't give an error when I run kobopatch.bat. In what way is it "not working"?

I try it, increase Sleep to four hours and check in morning too.

I have sleep set for 20 minutes per the patch.

If you set power-off to 4 hours and then check it in the morning, it will be off. But you won't know if if turned off at 4 hours or the original time.

If it's really sleep you are setting to 4 hours, it will be asleep before you wake so again, you won't know if it worked. Unless it doesn't sleep.

Oh yeah lol. Ok then, I'll put it down and check in 60 minutes. If it turned off it doesn't work.

I tested patch Custom Sleep/Power-off timeouts on a KA1, setting Sleep to 10mins and PowerOff to 60mins. Both events happened on cue as expected.

Nice! It seems to work for me too, I set Power-Off to 4 hours and waited 60 minutes and it didn't turn off.

I wanted the sleep time to be longer then a day. It did not work. I tried it for a number of firmware updates until I just gave up. Now I'm trying changing the config. If my Kobo remains off in the morning, I'll set it to some number I can see the results.

Thanks for your work. I updated to this firmware version and applied the patches. All cool and working as it's supposed to.

Except I really miss the custom comfortlight settings. Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but when I still could use it, it was syncing even while the device was sleeping. For example, if I set the bedtime to 8pm and woke up my Libra for the first time since early afternoon at 10pm, the amber light was already automatically set to the max.
If I do the same today, the comfortlight adjusts in small steps every few seconds. Maybe it's related to the newer firmware and not the patches, who knows.

Or it could be how the comfortlight works with Kobo's code and you just didn't know or remember because you've been used to the patched version.

I set power-off to 2 days and it did not turn off this morning. I'll try setting it for a value I can test. 12 hours should do. I'll need two days to properly test. On the first test, if it turns off after 12 hours, I'll then have a look and see if it's off near 12 hours.
