Calibre Tag browser, "and" keyword with keyboard shortcut

Is there anyway to click on tags in the tag browser and have them added to the search with the "and" keyword instead of "or"?

Both Shift and Ctrl keyboard shortcuts set them as "or".

The Calibre manual only mentioned Ctrl and Shift:

Quote:
If you hold down the Ctrl or Shift keys and click on multiple items, then restrictions based on multiple items are created. For example you could hold Ctrl and click on the tags History and Europe for finding books on European history.

https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/gui.html#tag-browser
Thanks!

That worked, thank you!

However, is there any way to set a different keyboard shortcut to either "and" or "or"?

For example:
  • Shift --> "and"
  • Ctrl --> "or"

Since it's kind of pointless to have both Shift and Ctrl match to only "and" or only "or".

Apparently not, over the last decade or more the same question has been put and the same suggestion made several times, the answer has always been "Change the search type in the Tag browser settings."

Ah, but doing a selection:
Ctrl adds or removes ONLY the item clicked
Shift adds (or might remove) ALL the items including current item, from previous last selected item.

(Removal if the item is already selected)

This is GUI behaviour for almost all desktop OSes, Destop managers and programs.

Is the display of this icon an option that can be disabled, because I don't have it on my display.

Ah, but the Tag browser isn't a list, it's a tree. Clicking a node generates a library search term, which is akin to clicking a node in the directory tree of a file manager. The Ctrl/Shift modifier keys are used to create multi term search expressions.

I had clicked on that, but did not see any menu item that looked right. Now, I see it.

Thanks.
