Hi all,
I'm digging out an old Kindle PW2 to start using again. This one is already on 5.4.4.2 and jailbroken with the K5 JailBreak. I see that the latest firmware for the PW2 is now 5.12.2.2 and that the WatchThis jailbreak works for this firmware. As I have been out of the game for a while, I'm wondering if it's better to stick with 5.4.4.2 or to upgrade and use the new jailbreak. Would be interested to hear the pros and cons of doing so, e.g. new OEM features I'm missing out on, potential battery life issues, any new security measures to watch out for etc. TIA ![]() |

I also have a PW3 with 5.9.x. Wondering if I should upgrade to recent-ish firmware due to performance/user experience

Me too, Im on a Pw3 5.9.6.1 and was hoping for some help to jailbreak as Ive seen jailbreaks for older and some for newer firmwares, like the watchthis post shows for fw 5.13 on pw3s.

If for some reason you want to go to a 5.10.x or higher firmware, the KindleBreak jailbreak is one of the easiest jailbreaks to perform. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=338268 Note that somewhere along the line amazon started making some features switchable between enabled and disabled by amazon at will. |

Thanks for the answer, I think Ill just go with the 5.9.6.1 jb.
Are there any things you do with jb that you couldnt do without it? Im mainly planning on jailbreaking the kindle so I can pass collections directly from calibre and not try to use the interface on the kindle. Also dont know if the jb could fix/help, but Ive been having problems when some books appear and disappear and I have to reboot the kindle to get them to show. |
