A Bit Dense - what do I need to back up?

My laptop failed several weeks ago, and while I managed to copy my books off, I lost all the categorization. So, I spent a large part of yesterday categorizing my 400+ books. What do I need to back up so that if I had to install calibre again, I would be able to bring back in not only the folder of books that I will back up, but the categorization and comments and updated meta data.

Thanks for what I am sure is a dense question.

Basically you should back up your calibre folder. (Go into the config file to see what the path is.) That contains all your books and the metadata database that has all the extra info in it.

There should be a metdata.db file.

Thanks - the file was hidden. So, if I zip all these folders and the .db file up, if I have to reinstall, I can just point calibre back to the location and it will pick up the meta data?

Sorry - my name is Michelle - I thought I had a signature line here!
