I see Calibre has option to enable system tray icon in Mac. However, I couldn't find a way to hide Calibre from the doc. How can we do that?
If such option doesn't exist, where we can request feature for Calibre? Love Calibre and want to keep it running at all time (as well as the server mode) while hiding from my busy desktop. If this topic has been discussed, please let me know. I tried search but couldn't find any thread about topic. |

Simply use a system tray icon and hide the dock icon using os provided facilities.

I think you were suggesting to hide entire system tray. That's not what I want. When I said crowded screen, I was also referring to the dock. Currently, I am hiding it by modifying the Info.plist file. However, if the app supports natively, it would be great. https://apple.stackexchange.com/ques...-be-reversible Either way, thank you for creating this great application! |

No i mean just hide the icon from the dock I am sure macos has some way to do it. Once you have a system tray icon for calibre you dont need the dock icon

Ran into a problem with "Hiding Dock" icon. I use the way, which I posted" previously, to hide Calibre dock icon. However, the limitation is now Calibre doesn't display top menu even when the app is active.
Without top menu, I am unable to quit or go to app preferences... I can use Command-Q to quit the app if need. However, there is no way to access the app preferences. Question: Is there a way I can access Calibre preferences from the app itself? Thank you for your help. |

It's Ctrl+P on Windows and Linux, might be Command+P on a Mac

The standard macos shortcut for preferences in all applications is cmd+, which calibre also respects.

Each update, I need to re-apply the change. So, I haven't done that for some time.
Just noticed the latest release. I am unable to update in macOS. It reported "Corrupted database" (here is the screenshot) error. The moment I remove the change, it works again. So, that "hide dock icon" code change in Info.plist caused issued to the app. Does Calibre add some checking to prevent us from updating it? How should I get around it? Thank you. corrupted database errors have nothing to do with dock icons.

The only change I did was adding these 2 line:
<key>LSUIElement</key> <true/> into this file: /Applications/calibre.app/Contents/Info.plist When I remove those 2 lines in Info.plist from calibre, corrupted database error goes away. I have done these change in Calibre before and it worked. I have changed other application's Info.plist and they are working as well. Let me know if I have done something wrong. |

Please post error text via the Copy to clipboard button calibre provides. And if you must post images please post them here so we don't have to flick back and forth between browser tabs.

No clue you'd have to ask apple. calibre's database access routines do not in any shape or form refer to info.plist.
