PW3 update

hello,

i just bought a PW3 and it's firmware is 5.6.1.1 and i want to upgrade it a little.

can you explain to me how can i do to upgrade it until 5.9 or 5.10 ?

As far as I know version 5.6.1.1 was never available for the PW3. (I was wrong. That was the initial firmware version for that model.)

5.6.1.1 is the most recent (final) firmware version for the PW2 PW1, so that is most likely the device that you actually own.

You can verify which model you have based on the serial number at https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_serial_numbers

5.6.1.1 is the last version for PW1, 5.12.2.2 - for PW2.

it's the risk when you get an old kindle

by the way, is this kindle jailbreakable ?

The PW2 is one of the most jailbreakable kindles, but I have no experience with it. You should open a new thread with PW2 in the title and maybe a PW2 expert will respond. You should search for threads on PW2 jailbreak, which might have all the information that you need, or at least give you some background to make it easier to communicate with the experts.

If all you want to do is update the firmware, the thread below tells how to get any version for the PW2 in particular. Be sure not to go too high because of UI changes that a lot of people don't like and more aggressive defenses against jailbreak.
