I don't want to use Trash Bin
I am going through a major archive of a library with over 32,000 books.
This is now laborious because of the trash bin which takes considerable time to write each deleted book and metadata. I have only periodically regretted deleting a book (perhaps 2 or 3 times per year) and then I can find in windows recycle bin. Can we please have an option to disable trash bin? |

The trash bin is basically instantaneous, since it doesnt contain copies, it uses hardlinks. If you are experiencing issues with it it will be because of some deeper underlying issue.

What version of calibre are you running? Are you talking the trah bin built into the latest calibre or the trash bin built into Windows?

But the hard links may be an issue. I use Goodsync to backup and synchronise my Calibre Portable directories to my local NAS units (QNAP & Synology). This shows that when I delete a book it is stored in the trash can directory. Now that may be a symbolic link but I would suggest that there are alternate ways which do not have an impact. My workaround whilst I fix issues and manage 11 different Calibre Portable libraries is to set the trash to empty on closure. If I get a "delete hang", probably because of the Windows issue, I am forced to terminate the Calibre program, restart Calibre individually deleting the recalcitrant book and then run a full library check. |
