Plugboard not modifying emailed titles

I am trying to change the title of epubs emailed to my send to Kindle email address.

I have tried
Format: epub
Device: email
Template: {series}{series_index:0>2s| – | – }{title}
Destination: title

However the emailed epubs are simply: title - author.epub

I have also tried "Device: any_device" with the same results.

Am I doing something wrong? Or is this not possible?

EDIT: According to another post, this is not possible. My workaround is to export to disk with a rename template, then manually email the files.
