Calibre modifying dbase record, throwing off sorting

I use cover grid view in Calibre, sorting by modified so my most recently manually modified epubs go to the top left corner.

Occasionally, for whatever reason, I'll see books that I haven't touched move up in the order towards the top. Is there any dbase background metadata culling or maintenance happening on those that I can toggle?

Again, these are books that haven't even been clicked on. Can I see a change history or something on them to see what Calibre is doing? Thanks -

(last_)Modified is affected by ANY change to metadata values.
Since this library is built on a Relational Data Base (rdb), changing the casE of a Tag, will affect all books using that tag.

And no, there is no setting to stop that. last_modified is mostly for internal use (flags dirtied records).
{date} is usually when you create the initial entry
I added {#edited} to flag when I made a change (so it rises to the top of a sort)

This gives the user more flexibility in defining when a custom #last_modified column(s) should be updated. There is also option to include/exclude changes from certain columns from updating the custom Last modified column(s) (see screenshots).

Thank you, that was likely it, altering a shared tag.
Thanks to ownedbycats, was looking at that plugin earlier too.
