Upgrading internal memory

Having just now replaced a broken Touch with a "new old stock" N905B model, I opened the back of my old one and noticed that its so-called internal memory is merely a 2GB MicroSD card. Can that be swapped for a larger capacity card, and - if so - what is the maximum capacity?

I use an external MicroSD card but it is far less convenient, as it cannot be seen in Windows Explorer so to add more books means removing and replacing it with a consequent delay while it imports the contents.

You could try a card up to 32GB. The original SD spec was up to 2GB, SDHC was from 2GB to 32GB and SDXC was good from 32GB to 2TB. There is also the SDUC spec which is good for 2TB to 128TB but I haven't seen one of those in the wild.

Not any more. The 'new old stock' model crashed and I returned it, so that's the end of that.
