Netguard & Privacy

Hey guys, lov love love my boox but can never sit still as such a personal device phones home does not sit well with me.

MY Boox seems to have an older firmware and can reboot with Netguard turned on. However the one of my wife with a newer firmware doesn't. When it resets the Netguard turns off as it seems they block it.

So my questions are...
1- If I do the ADB uninstall, what should I uninstall so that Netguard can run on startup?

2- If I cannot do the above (too deep in the system), is there a universal way to root a Boox Note Air & Boox Nova Air?

3- If no to the above, any workarounds?

Just wanted to mention that rooting the Boox Nova Air doable. I've done it using the youtube video on rooting the rooting the Boox note air 2 plus from the channel of Chalid Raqami.
The differences in the process are: you do not need to decrypt the payload (the boot.bin is in the zip file downloaded. And after testing the boot.img using "fastboot boot xxx.img" you need to make it permanent by using "fastboot flash boot xxx.img" instead. I found the way the video describes making it permanent in Magisk doenst work. Note that to do this you need to run cmd with administrator rights.

It might be the same for the Note Air?

However, my main reason for doing this was to use the AFwall+ to lock everything down and that does not work yet because I keep seeing dns requests to boox adresses in my pi-hole so mission not yet achieved...

On my Leaf 2 the remaining requests are captive portal and ntp. You can configure them with adb, something like:
