Website: Connectivity issues

In two threads are reports of issues connecting to Kobo website, with lots of 503 errors. Thought a thread for that made sense.

I haven't been on the site in the last few days (checked browser history) so I only noticed it today. It's rather intermittent.

I added a free book to my account but then got an error immediately afterwards. The book wasn't there when I finally got into My Books. Then I tried again and it worked.

The website was up early today here in ol' Europe, but it's down right now.

The status site has an RSS feed so I set it to pull every 10 minutes to keep an eye on it.

Sometimes I'm wrong.
However site is loading instantly just now (wishlist of 7 pages) and clicks on site seem responsive.

It didn't look like an internal HW, SW, or configuration issue, because it was never "broken", just either "working", slow, unbelievably slow or unavailable after a timeout.

OTOH, the Kobo website is now loading very slowly or timing out for me.

Edit: I checked my bookmark and it was pointing at store.kobobooks.com which is an Akamai Edge connection while kobo.com resolves to an address owned by Rakuten. Using kobo.com seems to be working happily while using store.kobobooks.com is still iffy.
