On Disk Location error
When editing Metadata (specifically, changing the title) of a book, I get the error "Could not change the on disk location of this book. It it open in another program?"
Looking at previous posts, this is permissions related. The details of the error message specify that the "Access is denied" error is on the original folder for the specific book. The part that baffles me is that the permissions for the entire folder are set correctly and the fact that the files are actually moved to the new folder and the old folder is eventually deleted. I opened the folder where all of the old files are and watched it while editing metadata. What happens is as follows:
This is happening on all books I have tested. |

Assuming this is on Windows.
The "Could not change the on disk location of this book. It is open in another program?" message is normally issued when another program is holding a lock on one of the format files - e.g. a PDF is open in PDF XChange, a DOCX is open in MS Word. Your description suggests something might be holding a lock on the original book folder. Do you run a File Manager replacement such as Directory Opus, Explorer++, xplorer² etc; or any file system shell extensions. BR |

You have the folder open if you are watching with the OS or any other app, and Calibre can't pull the rug.
I get this all the time with Adobe reader while cleaning up my download folder View: nope don't need:click delete :error (because it is still in use by Reader) ![]() |

Then, whilst looking at the 'foo' folder in FE, I can press F2 the Title cell in the book list and change it to 'bar'. When I press enter, the 'foo' book folder will disappear from the FE window and there'll be a new book folder for 'bar'. Because its done using hardlinks rather that bytewise copying it's very fast.
