cannot open ebooks through calibre or contet menus
When I right click on an ebook - usually epub or awz3 format - and I select "Open With E-book Viewer" nothing happens. Same if I double click an ebook or select any of the View options from within calibre.
I am currently using calibre v5.37.0 under ubuntu 22.04 LTS. I know that before "upgrading" ubuntu (and therefore, calibre as well) this always worked just fine. I did the "upgrade" months ago, but I only just now tried getting an ebook to open, so I don't know if the newer versions caused it or if something else may have. I did install Amazon Kindle Reader through wine, but I have double checked that epub and awz3 files are still associated with calibre. Besides that, I wouldn't think that the association would affect opening an ebook through calibre itself. Any help would be great. If you need any more info, I will be happy to provide it. Thanks. |

Does the ebook viewer even open? Have you tried running calibre in debug mode and then opening the ebook viewer? Personally, I would try installing the "official" version from the calibre home page. Too many people have reported issues with the repository versions.

I just tried running it in debug and it doesn't open the reader that way, either. I saw something in the log file about "Could not find QtWebEngineProcess" after "Starting QuickView". I guess that's why. I did a quick search here and I found this - https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...bengineprocess I tried that and sure enough... it worked! PLUS now epubmerge and epubsplit are showing up in my menu where they were not before. I really appreciate your help. If not for the debug tip, I'd still be spinning my wheels ![]() |

Use a PDF printer if any viewer will print it.
