Exporting Library
Linux Mint and Mate desktop.
When I start the Export I'll switch to a different Workspace, but the copying prograss dialog follows. The Title-bar workspace settings are ignored. |

calibre definitely doesnt know anything about workspaces, thats purely a window manager construct. The export progress dialog is likely marked as being on top and your window manager has decided that means it needs to move it around.

I suspected that
![]() Maybe Unsolvable. It's a minor niggle. The only annoying bit is main Calibre GUI vanishes when export finishes. Changing workspace and then going back to workspace that the Export progress was on when it closed makes Calibre reappear on that Workspace. Most programs open only on the Workspace you are at. I've noticed that Chromium browser is the exception I have, as it opens on whichever workspace it was last on, which gives the illusion of it not opening you are on a different workspace. Back in 2000-2001 I skipped Windows 2000 and had NT4.0 and RedHat Linux dual boot. I added Workspaces to NT4.0 and because it was rare on Windows NT, some programs did behave strangely. So in April 2002 when I got my 3rd laptop ever, and it had XP, I added Linux as dual boot and never added the Workspaces feature to XP. I was still using that laptop in 2009 when I first heard of Calibre (someone was using it for a Mybebook eink). And only stopped in December 2016. I got my current laptop November 2016, dual boot Windows7 & Linux Mint, with Windows deleted in Jan 2017. I have most emails since 2000, some between 1996 and 2008 are archived, so was able to see all dates Calibre mentioned and emails from yourself years ago! Dual or more screens on Windows and Linux introduces even more weirdness, though always worked better on Linux than NT4.0 and XP. Mostly now I use a hybrid SSD & HDD small Dell Optiplex (two PCIe slots) with a 23″ 4K HDR screen on a UPS, so laptop is only when visiting others and no need for 2nd screen now. The other issue with Linux desktop on dual screens is that if you have an Autohide panel bar on the side of main screen and 2nd screen is beside that, the Panel appears on 2nd screen edge when hidden on main screen. I have Panels on each of the four edges. Last edited by Quoth; 02-07-2023 at 06:14 AM. |
