Removing personal identifying information?

I'm still using 4.23

Does Calibre remove (or replace) personal identifying information when adding a book to my library?

I was told it does not for .mobi and that seems to be true - at least in the one case I actually examined.

No calibre does not process your books at all when adding they will be byte for byte identical unless you have added some third party plugins such as drm removal plugins.
