Hey there, I recently purchased a Pocketbook Era to replace my old Kindle Keyboard and I'm awaiting for it in the mail. I'm interested mostly in classic literature. The most modern my books ever got were the LOTR series. Otherwise I'm reading books which would be easily found on Project Gutenberg.
However, my wife jumped on the fact that I purchased a new e-reader and wants to borrow books from the local library using Hoopla, Overdrive, or eBranch2Go. Specifically Undeniably Yours by Becky Wade... but I'm sure she'll want to read another one after she has this one completed in a day or two. I'm thrown for a loop and I didn't even think of this before purchasing my Pocketbook. Yes, I don't care about Christian woman romance novels, but the ability to borrow any book from the library intrigues me... and it's stressing me out trying to figure out how to do this with a Pocketbook. I tried borrowing her book online through eBranch2Go, downloading the acsm file, uploading to the Pocketbook cloud, then opening the book using the pocketbook app on my phone. However, it will not open using the Pocketbook App. She suggests the Pocketbook browser (when it comes in the mail) should be able to access Hoopla for her just like a computer would but I'm doubtful it'd be a streamlined process. Would this method be successful on my Pocketbook Era? Is there a simplier way of doing this? Or do I need to look at a different type of ereader (Kobo, Boox, etc) Any suggestions to borrow books from an online or local library to do this I would appreciate it. For context I'm located in the US. Thank you. |

Just send .ascm file over email and open it on your Pocketbook device. This works for me with Overdrive in USA.

You’ll need to download the Hoopla app to read Hoopla books.

PocketBooks handle standard Overdrive borrowing well. There are three options. You can use the browser in the Era to directly borrow and download the .ascm file. The Era has ADE built-in, so (once you've logged into Adobe on your Era) you just "open" (download) the .ascm file from the eReader. No ADE on your computer needed. Using the E-Ink browser is slow, but works in a pinch. Or you can download the .ascm file to your computer or smartphone and send it, via email, using the built-in app "Send-to-Pocketbook." Depending on how busy the PocketBook site is, this can take 10 to 15 minutes to arrive -- though I usually get them sooner than that. Or you can download the .ascm file to your computer and move it over to the PocketBook with a USB cable. Once there (in all three options) the PocketBook does the job of "converting" (downloading) the ePub file using the .ascm file as the "key." (At least that's the way I think of it.) Sorry the news couldn't be better in connection to Hoopla. |

No worries. Thank you! Looks like we have a couple good options I'll try out when it comes in the mail today!
