Having a clear-out
My Calibre and list of books are in a mess. All my own fault but naturally I want sort everything out. Currently I am working through, updating and checking, my library - a large collection - and would like to start on a completely clean, brand new Calibre sheet without older versions intruding. Can I safely remove an old list, already deleted but still knocking about, without losing books I want to keep?
Thanks in advance for any advice offered. H. |

NO! (at least the way you describe).
Calibre is the Program that manages Libraries. 'the list' is A LIBRARY. (and the under laying folders that belong) You can have as many Libraries (Create/ Switch) as you have disk for, BUT The folders (books) can only serve ONE Library. Same book in 2 Libraries = 2 copies. ![]() The latter is because the structure of (custom) columns/settings is different from Main. Juvenal is a Library that is child safe ![]() In the Old Library (typ Calibre_Library), Move books to the new Library (ies) by right clicking on the selections: Copy to Library:<target>. Switch there and make adjustments. Switch back. Repeat |
