Question No option to download Kindle Books to PC by usb anymore
I usually download new books from Amazon by clicking the option to download them to the computer by the usb menu. By Manage Your Content
No option to download Kindle Books to PC by usb anymore.

However that option has gone.
I then put them in Calibre
Help please.

I guess you mean Kindle Unlimited books, as the USB option is still there for purchased books, but Amazon disabled it for KU loans. Now you'll need to buy the books to get the download option.

couldn't you in theory use a kindle device to download a Kindle Unlimited Book and then copy the file from there to your PC to DeDRM it? or did they change the complete drm system for the unlimited books so it doesn't works anymore?

(never tried it with unlimited books just self bought books, thats why i ask)

You can only deDRM books pulled from old Kindle models (pre-2012). Any newer model and you can't deDRM.

Kindles newer than about 10 years will download KFX books which DeDRM does not handle.

That only works if you have an old model of Kindle. Newer devices will use use KFX format with unbroken DRM in their internal storage.

A Voyage or PW3 with original release firmware will download azw3 format, which DeDRM handles fine. If the book has any images, the will be in an awz6 file. DeDRM also handles those azw3, but the book will show images only on another kindle.Conversion to EPUB loses the images, but otherwise the book is OK.

True, but since a device has to be online to be able to receive books from Amazon (without using Download & Transfer) newer devices will tend to automatically update to the latest available firmware which uses KFX. Preventing that (or reverting to older firmware after the fact) will be beyond the capabilities of many users.

Maybe, but blocking updates on those firmwares only requires creating a directory with a particular name and location.

Where are you going to get a Voyage or a PW3 with the original firmware? I'm not sure they're particularly easy to find. It's easier to find an used K3 or a K4.
