Downloading Kobo books

Apologies if this has been covered recently but everything I've searched here or googled seems obsolete...

I'm new to Kobo (loving the Clara 2e) and just bought my first two books. I want to download them and import them into Calibre.

First I tried downloading them from the Kobo website. I get .acsm files that look like links. I haven't figured out anything I can do with those directly.

It sounds like ADE knows what to do with .acsm files but it looks like ADE for mac has gone away.

I downloaded the Kobo Reader app for mac. The links that tell me where to look for the associated Kobo book directory are obsolete for the latest version of MacOS. I've tried searching my drive for .kepub files. I can't find them.

I had partial success using the DeDRM/Obok 10.0.3 (latest) plugin for Calibre (latest) and a mounted Clara 2e. It successfully imported one book, but claimed it couldn't decrypt the second.

So, have I missed something?

Thanks in advance!

You may want to check into the ACSM Input plugin for calibre. This will still require to to have a valid Adobe ID for encrypted books.

And the Kobo desktop does not store files with a kepub extension. Instead you will find the files stored with what looks like a GUID/UUID as the file name with no extension in a directory called kepub. A sample file name would be 2eb5e2ef-8c1f-4dd8-a683-bce4c5746906 which does little for a human being.

As for ADE for Mac? When I look at Adobe's website, I still see a link for ADE 4.5.11 for Macintosh on the Adobe Digital Editions 4.5.11 Installers page. The Mac version download link works for me and installed on a Mac OS virtual machine.

DNSB, gbm, thanks for the pointers!

I installed ADE. It's still awful. I can't get it to import my .acsm. I get E_ACT_NOT_READY. Possibly because it's stuck with an ancient authorization?

DeACSM (+obok?) worked perfectly with a new ADE ID and even decrypted the book I couldn't decrypt with just obok and my Clara 2e. Thanks Leseratte!
