Question about Calibre library store method

Forgive me because perhaps it's a stupid question, but reading Faq I've not found the information desired.
I see that Calibre split every book added in 3 files (cover, epub, metadata).
When I send the file to the device via KUncaged, the file is one, as the original.
I'm confused, is there a way to mantain an unique file instead of the 3 ones on the Calibre folder?
And when I modify metadata, it's saved directly on the file or on the metadata file splitted?

Thank you for yor patience.

Stop looking under the skirts
In the main Library, there is the book, a Cover that is used in details (it may be different the what is in the book) and a backup of the metadata what you see IN CALIBRE .

If you Save to Disk (to export to your device, Configure the tool in Preferences: Saving to Disk. You chose what actions get done when you use that button

I like to see how things works
On device saving all things work as expected (I put my personal settings). I wondered to find a folder for every book with splitted files on my hard disk.

They are NOT 'splitted'. Those belong to Calibre, they just have a similar name.
Calibre does create folders by book title. You could have 1 of every format in that folder, if you did all possible conversions.
Do read the FAQ's at the Calibre site ( F1 takes you to the Manual site)
