kobo claims all sideloaded epubs need adobe permission, until rebooted

Very occasionally, my Kobo (Sage, latest firmware) claims that all sideloaded epubs can't be opened because Adobe Digital Editions won't let it. If I reboot, the problem goes away.

I think I saw this from time to time on my Aura One as well.

Has anyone else run into this? I put an ADE authorization on my Kobos just in case, but actually it's something I almost never actually need. Maybe I should just remove it? Or would that not solve this?

Never seen it on any of my Kobos, and I don't authorize my Kobos with my Adobe ID, as no book I load to my devices has DRM. I don't read library books and sideload everything. No DRMed book is ever going to any of my ereaders.

Strange. I've never seen it. Not even once.

I've also never seen it and, although I tend to side-load most books, Kobo every now and again insists an uploading books without me asking.

I've seen it a grand total of... *once* (and I'm pretty sure it was when testing stuff and doing some fairly unorthodox things to the poor device). I can't even remember on *which* device that was, exactly. But, yeah, a reboot fixed it.

I've only seen it recently and compared with huge volume of reading it's rare and may have only happened on maybe 7+ hours solid reading.

I've seen it several times and have reported it to Kobo when it happens. The problem is the usual one with an erratic problem not being easily reproducible making it a pain to fix. So far a restart has been the easiest solution since I have restart as a NickelMenu option. It has nothing to do with Adobe authorization since I've had it happen on a device that did not have activation.xml in the .adobe-digital-editions directory (device.xml will always be there unless you deliberately remove it).

Personally, I tend to find it rather humourous when an epub without DRM that has never been touched by an Adobe content server is reported as being protected by DRM. But as most of my friends and family would say, my sense of humour is definitely warped.

For me only with epub since the renderer used for kepub would not produce an Adobe DRM error message.
