Change background in reader Calibre

Hallo,
How to color the sides in the reader in a different color with calibre in style.css?
Where exactly do you need to change the background image, then only the side white sides? I don't need to change the color in the middle

IN THE VIEWER (I moved your post since you said 'reader')

Preferences: Styles
Preferences: Colors:+New Scheme

Hello

Thank you for reply. To be more exact, my purpose is to set the light grey color as background for the whole viewer window. I almost managed to do so, but there remains a white padding at the borders, as you can see in the screenshot. The question is how to eliminate the remaining white padding .

I dis not manage to find what is meant by "preferences' 'styles'

The margins will default to the background, so these settings:

Margins are how you move text away from the Edge normally.

Padding is how you move text away from a BORDER (the default is invisible and 0 padding)
If you plan on selling the work: Don't do that. For your own use, whatever floats your boat.

Your 'everything' must have excluded the obvious ==>> Viewer->Preferences->Page Layout:

Hello. Unfortunately does not take in this windowed mode. The size of the fields themselves changes, but the text is still very close to the edges

Did you try setting the margins in the Viewer, as shown above by BetterRed, to a larger value, like 60px?

you could also try this:

convert epub -> epub, removing margins, fonts... whatever needed:
