when bypassing the list of books, I would like to automatically expand the subcategory tags in the browser. How to do it?

Right-click on the category entry, then use Search > Find [entry] in the Tag browser..."



This won't appear for all entries. If there's no tag browser category (or, I think, if it's hidden). I believe composite columns also excluded due to technical reasons.

in the list of books, you can call the context menu, it contains books of the same author, publisher, or you can add the item there: From the same category ???

I *think* you want to find a given category value in the tag browser, for example some tag on a book.

You can do this easily using Quickview. Ensure the Quickview pane is open. In the books list, click on the cell containing the item you want to find. The possible items (e.g., tags) will appear in the left-hand list in Quickview. Right-click on the one you want to see in the tag browser and choose "Find item in the tag browser". Or depending on what you are trying to do, right-click and choose "Find item in the library. Or simply left click on the item and you will see the list of books with that item in the Quickview pane.

no, not similar, but books belonging to the same category (genre) to which I assigned them

I'm supposing the OP wants the items shown in the pic below to appear in the context menu for the books in the library. If this assumption is correct, one way I can think of obtaining that is using the Reading List plugin together with Favourites Menu

actually those categories and sub-categories were created just for trying to figure what the OP wanted... I don't use much the Tag Browser nowadays as I used in the past, when I felt I needed it in order to have titles categorized in order to match a range of subjects I was studying all at once.

but anyway, I'm not sure how to answer that question... I used just the native stuff for what's in that pic

then, I dragged the tag Fiction into the @genre.Fiction "folder"..
