SOLVED - Falsely shows duplicate books on device
I have transferred a couple hundred KFX books to my Oasis. All looks good after the transfer but if I eject and then reconnect, Calibre falsely shows some of the books are duplicated on the device. If I select Remove books from device it will show there are two books named:
.BookTitle and BookTitle The one named .BookTitle says it has a file in documents named ._BookTitle. This looks like it could be Mac files but when I navigate to the Kindle Documents folder and view invisible files, they are not there. And, why do only some of the books do this? calibre doesnt create those so either macOS or the Kindle firmware created them. Most likely macOS. Just delete them.

Except those files are not there. As mentioned in my original post I looked for invisible files and they are not there.
On the device I deleted one of the books that showed as a duplicate. When I reconnected to Calibre it reported that is still had one copy on the device. This is problematic as I now have a mismatch between my device and Calibre and I can't tell what needs to be transferred and what doesn't. |

They must be there, or calibre would nto report them as being there. And duplicates dont prevent you from knowing whats on your device, they just tell you you have multiple copies of something already on your device.

I'm still baffled because they do not show up when I command Finder to show invisible files. However, I downloaded a utility that cleans up ghost file and that seems to solve the problem Last edited by HogDrvr; 11-11-2022 at 10:49 AM. |

@HogDrvr have you tried doing a search to see if there really is multiple books?
Also, what happens if you delete twice the books that are said to be on your Kindle twice and then put these books back on your Kindle? I would think you'd only have one copy. Another thing to try is to delete the file metadata.calibre on your Kindle and let it be recreated in case that is corrupt. Last edited by JSWolf; 11-11-2022 at 11:50 AM. |
