Reports shows no line-feed character

Just curious.
I do not use the edit-tool "Reports" that often, but today I noticed (see attachment) that with TAB "Characters" the "ellipsis" was displayed for "Line Feed", so there appears to be 2 kind of ellipsis's present.
Is there a reason for not using the real "line feed" character (for instance as pictured right)?

I suspect it is because it is mostly meaningless in HTML code.
If you need a NewLine rendered, you use <br /> in the text

You are absolutely correct, but ...
When clicking on the line feeds indication of Reports, you are directed to the editor screen, which is outside the html-tags as can be seen on the attachment.

Because I dont have the time/interest to implement special rendering for non-printing characters in that dialog, where anyway the full character name is present right there.
