Change files' format in Calibre

CONTEXT:

Calibre saves all your e-book files with the format “Title – Author” by default.

Currently, when you send an e-book from Calibre to your Kindle (either via email or sideloading), Amazon takes the whole name of the file “Title – Author” and uses it as the “Title”. Because of that, the author’s name is then duplicated, as it is included in both the title and the author’s field.

The only way to send your e-books so that Amazon displays the correct information in their corresponding fields is by deleting the author from the file’s name, and then sending it out of Calibre, this is, directly from your mail service.

QUESTION:

Would it be possible to have an option in Calibre that allows you to save your e-books with a “Title – Extension” format? That way one can continue sending e-books directly from Calibre via email.

Thank you.

As has been mentioned is several threads complaining about the same issue, the upcoming release of calibre will be able to use only the book title as the file name. See this thread for an example: Filename format for Email to. The link to the calibre change is: When emailling to kindle set the filename based on the post plugboard….
