Problems syncing with new computer

Good news, I've got a new computer.
Bad news, Hotsync sucks!
I've tried every possible configuration, and what I know so far is that I can sync my PDA after a hard reset, but if I restore the information, it simply won't sync. Any recipes?
Come on, someone, please tell me the magic words.

More information on hardware/software? Once we know what you're trying to sync, where, and how, someone might be able to better help.

I have a T3. My PC runs over Windows XP SP2 (SP2 was pre-installed).
When I press the Hotsync button, it starts, but it stalls on Memo (most frequently). I've disabled several conduits, so hotsync stalls in different apps every time, or during the back up process.
I've installed the latest Hotsync Manager Update, and the latest Palm desktop.
My next step is a Bluetooth sync.
Probably I'll hard reset my Palm, and then reinstall every app one by one through HS.

Don't go that far yet. Try doing a pc overwrites handheld first or vice versa and see what happens. Maybe it is the syncing that is corrupted. Make sure to back up your t3 first on sd...you can download megacom from www.megasoft2000.com to do the backup.

Thanks, that's indeed a good idea.
I'll try that, and I'll add a spin: if it works, I'll put the contents of my old backup file (from my old PC) into the new one and set HS as "PC overwrites PDA."
BTW, for backups on the SD card I use BackupMan, have you tried it?

I have not...I prefer megacom because it has compression. Does backupman have compression?

I'm syncing right now with no problems (well, it's taking a loooong time, but given the circumstances, it is nothing), through IR!

I hope I'm not speaking too early!

Btw, I tried syncing with and without my USB hub, as recommended in P1 online ""support"".

Yeah, around 30%* compression, how about megacom?
*I need to confirm it later, right now I'm syncing.

You're syncing over IR? Good gawd man, that's horrendous.

I have BackupMan. I like its ability to backup to external memory. While I've backed up, I haven't tried/needed to revert to the backups.

Good luck Francesco!

I know.
I'm setting up a BT connection with a little help from geekzone guides.

No, it works perfectly with my old computer. I read in P1's online help that some issues in USB connections have been found by several users. So, I'll give BT a try. It's slower but apparently I have no choice (other than the dreaded IR).

My BT connection is set. Apparently, it has the same data rate as an IR connection!
The difference is, I guess, BT is not as pitiful as IR.
