Kobo Libra H20 is AWFUL with footnotes!
I just got "Terry Pratchett - A life with footnotes", and guess what, the book is full of footnotes!
Before that, I hadn't used my Libra for a few months, so when it started it asked to do a software update (weirdly, it claimed it couldn't sync unless I did it... not sure what it was syncing too though, so after it was complete I shut off its internet). Now that I'm reading the book, and double tap to visit a footnote, nothing happens. I have to page down to see that I actually ended up on the footnote page (and then page back up to read the relevant footnote). Double tapping on the footnote again to get back to where I was does however refresh the page properly. I bought it with Adobe's horrible DRM, so since I want to manage my own digital rights, I stripped out that crud with Calibre and converted it back to the Epub format I thought I was buying anyway. Not sure if that should have any impact on the footnotes, though? Anyone experienced this and what can be done about it? |

Perhaps try it in the kepub format? (If you use Calibre, the KoboTouch Extended Driver can convert your book to kepub on the fly when sending to the device).

Thanks for the tip! However, when I installed that plugin and distabled the others, the result on my Kobo is a PDF. When I go into the plugin and disable everything but the Kepub format, I get an error that "no suitable formats were found".

Disabling PDF but enabling regular Epub in the plugin now produces a file named .kepub.epub...
Weird naming aside, now footnotes show up in a popup with a single click, so great solution! Thanks again. (One annoying thing though is that you loose two lines of text per page due to titlebars at the top and bottom of the screen.) |

You can disable the header and footer in the settings. Click on the gear wheel icon when you are reading a book, and set header and footer to 'off'.
