Troubleshooting Kindle Paperwhite 10th Gen ghost/phantom touch issue

It's been two weeks since I got it and it's started having ghost touch problems. Basically touches automatically get registered even if my hands aren't on the screen, and I've noticed it's in one specific area (around the r or e if the keyboard is up). Turning it off and on again seems to fix the issue for a couple of minutes. I've tried factory resetting, updating to the latest firmware and wiping the problematic area with a cloth and screen cleaner. I've looked online and this seems to be an issue with this particular model only, and the only way to fix it is to send it back, although I did find this: https://old.reddit.com/r/kindle/comm...le_paperwhite/


I can't send it back to amazon because I didn't buy it from there, and the store seems to have no warranty. Is there anything else I can do?
