Can someone verify this fail-to-sleep bug on the Libre 2?

Here's my setup:
Libre 2
Firmware 4.34.20097
Sleepcover

And the steps to reproduce:
Set "Energy Saving: Automatically go to sleep after:" to 10 minutes.
Set "Sleepcover: Automatically sleep and wake up" to OFF.
Go into a book.
Shut the cover WITHOUT turning the Kobo off manually.
Come back in 20 minutes, open the Sleepcover, and find that the Kobo is still on the book page, the backlight is still on, and the device never went to sleep.

Background:
My Sleeepcover has been acting up, turning my Kobo off in the middle of reading with just the slightest nudge. So I turned it off, but then I started to get huge battery drains overnight. I think this is a bug, and it might be why other people have reported weird battery drains. My battery life has been awesome for seven months prior to just this week.

I think the only change I've made to the OS is JSWolf's improved hyphenation dictionary.

Not a Libra 2 but on my Sage, I tried setting the sleepcover off and sleep after 5 minutes. Bent the upper portion of the sleepcover back so I could see the screen (nice feature of the origami cover) and according to my handy dandy watch, my Sage went to sleep 4 times after ~5 minutes. Note that this is the official Kobo cover.

No problem here - Libra 2 with Forefront shell case.
Turns off and on as it should when closing and opening.
Allows folding back for reading without turning the Libra 2 off as well.

No problem here with red sleepcover from Kobo.

Followed your instruction to the letter and yes the Libra 2 DID NOT sleep.
For completeness I then tested with the case open and the libra 2 went to sleep after 10 minutes.
Have you reported this bug to kobo?

To stop the sleep cover putting the kobo to sleep when the cover is folded back, put multiple layer of aluminium foil inside the case behind the kobo. As a rough guide the magnetic sensor is in the bottom right quarter when viewed in portrait, this is where you need the aluminium foil.

What sleep cover do you have? Can you return it and get another? If it's a Kobo sleep copver, I suggest going for the kwmobile sleep cover if you like having an image instead of a solid cover.

You can get kwmobile from Amazon.

Did you specify 10 minutes because the bug doesn't happen if you use a different value?

Thank you! I'm not the only one. I haven't reported it to Kobo yet, I wanted to verify that it wasn't just me.

And yes, mine also sleeps correctly if I leave the cover open.

It's the Kobo official Sleepcover. It's too old for a regular return, but I'll be contacting Kobo with my findings to see what they can do for me. If they can't, I'll try your kwmobile suggestion, thanks!

I haven't tried alternate times yet. I'm still narrowing down what is happening.

Just tested with a 5 minutes sleep time with the same result. after 20 minutes the libra 2 was still awake, 5 minutes after opening the cover it went to sleep.

I didn't understand this on my first read, but now I get it. Sounds like a good plan!

Do you have any tweaks or hacks or anything on your Kobo?

Or you could just buy a cover that works as it should.

A cover that turns the reader off when folded back is faulty and should ideally be returned.
I use Forefront cases which work fine and are cheaper than the Kobo ones.
JSWolf swears by an equivalent made by kwmobile. - Both are available from amazon, depending on your location.
They are both probably made in the same Chinese factory.

It worked properly for seven months, and now it doesn't. Maybe the internal magnet or magnet sensor got misaligned? Does anyone know exactly where the magnet is supposed to be? I can't find a teardown.

Yes, are you thinking these may be affecting this sleep bug?
