Replacing KCC with Calibre for generating kepub/epub from cbz

Currently I use Kindle Comic Converter to convert my comics and manga's to .kepub format but KCC hasn't been updated for over 2 years now and I want to start looking for a replacement.

Can I use Calibre to generate epub/kepub files that match the output that KCC provides? That is:
  • (up)Scaling to Screen Resolution of a device
  • Left or Right reading Direction
  • Full Screen (assuming the origin image aspect ratio matches the screen) display
  • Use comicinfo.xml for metadata
  • Invocation from the terminal

When converting a .cbz to .kepub I noticed that under "Page Setup" I can select certain devices (eg Kindle Paperwhite) but I'm not seeing the option to define my own screen size nor any place where I can tell it to use the comicinfo.xml file to create the toc.

There is no upscaling, only downscaling for images larger than the device screen size. And calibre does not output kepu unless you install the plugin for it. I have no idea what the status of comic support in that plugin is.

Thanks for the update, guess I've got some testing/scripting to do to further test this
