Dear Mobileread community,
Is there a way to get back the quotes and highlighted text from a device not responding? I have my pocketbook since 2013, the model is pocket touch lux (623 I think). Serial number: EPE30700162795H000D3 A week ago the device stopped switching on ![]() reset/restart it, but even connecting it to computers (mac, windows and linux) does not detect it. The little green led switches on when I put the device on charge, but this is the only reaction I can get from the device. Otherwise pressing switch on or reset does nothing. The screen is frozen on the cover of the last book I read. I had no SD card on it, every personal data is in the internal memory. Since I had it for nearly 10 years all my reading history is there. I am interested in mostly my quotes, not in the ebooks themselves. Any idea what I can do or try to get back those quotes? I wrote to PB telling that I am even ready to pay to get the memory transferred but they just answered that they discontinued the model since 3 years and no longer support it. |

I looked inside my 623 and I don't see any internal SD card in there, so the internal memory must be some kind of flash device soldered to the board. I think your best bet is to keep trying to resurrect the device rather than try to read the internal memory on another system. Perhaps the battery completely discharged before and it now must recharge at a very slow rate? You can try leaving it connected to USB while turned off for a day or two to see if it will come back to life on its own.
Maybe you can copy a firmware image onto an SD card, insert it into the device, and then push the power button while holding down the Next/Prev buttons to start a firmware update process. The device may be able to reboot after the firmware has been reflashed onto the device. |

Yes indeed, soldered memory.
![]() Just tried the firmware update with and without charger on... still no reaction. But thank you for suggesting the idea. Indeed, worth a try! I tried charging it for a full night and day. Will retry charging it for several days again starting from now. |
