Custom symbols in ebooks
Greetings, how could I add custom symbols in an epub file that can be recognized by e-readers? The symbols are supported by UTF-8 but they don't appear in my e-reader (Kobbo Librba 2).
These are some examples of the symbols: ☉︎ ☽︎ ☿ ♄. |

Embed the font into the epub and config your device to use the embedded font.

Is this for your own use or for sale?
I ask, because, while the solution is correct. The buyer need to KNOW that their override (the device font setting) may cause them to be displayed incorrectly. A note at the beginning might (we know RTFM is not done ![]() Quote:

I'm mostly going to use the ebook myself, but I'll also post it for free when it's complete.
And thanks for reminding me to add a font disclaimer. I always use the publisher font but it may not be the case for everyone ![]() |

If this is an eBook that's just for personal use, try a font such as ChareInk that does have these symbols (i just double checked) and then there would be no reason to embed. The URL for ChareInk is here. Last edited by JSWolf; 09-13-2022 at 09:05 AM. |
