"Der Spion" (1821) von James Fenimore Cooper "gilt als der erste Roman der amerikanischen Literatur, der in den Vereinigten Staaten spielt und zugleich internationale Anerkennung erlangte" (wikipedia).
Das eBook bringt die sehr kundige Übersetzung von Carl Kolb (1841, 528 Seiten), an deren Layout - insbesondere bei den Briefen, den Motti und den Verseinlagen - ich mich orientierte. Das Frontispiz stammt aus eben dieser Ausgabe. Das Cover hingegen ist eine Illustration von Bertall (d.i. Charles Albert d'Arnoux) aus einer französischen Übersetzung des Jahres 1850.
