EPUB to PDF: text becomes RTL

Hi!

When I convert an EPUB to PDF, the result looks great. Only when I try to select/copy the text from the PDF, it appears to have become RTL. E.g.:

?lufsseccus neeb tpmetta eht saH

I've searched to forum (perhaps using the wrong terms) but I couldn't find anything. Hope you can help me out!

Export / convert the ePub to docx (Calibre)
Open in LO Writer or MS Word.
Clean up styles and set page size and page style (Headers, footers etc)
Set language etc.
Save docx if Word, odt if LO Writer (for later).
Export PDF (Perfect with LO Writer, depends on version of Word if using MS).
Always works 100%.

Thanks! I did that for my current text. However, I also like Calibre to auto convert my EPUBs to PDFs for annotating. An automatic solution would still be very welcome

I do annotation purely to/on epub. Real text that can be read from a Kobo by Kobo Utilities and displayed in a text editor beside the wordprocessor.

IMO self generated PDFs are only good for paper (which I've not used to proof for 8 years) or to send to POD.

what program are you using to select text from the PDF?

Anything: Preview / Highlights / DevonThink. It's all the same

Apple's preview is typical apple software and very poor quality. Try it with adobe reader. No idea about the other two but they are likely using the same underlying libraries as preview.
