Editing Templates Disabled
Hello!
I've noticed that after I updated Calibre to 6.1.0, I can no longer edit custom columns built by other columns by clicking on a book in that column from the library screen. When I do, the text of the column changes to "editing templates disabled" and I cannot change it. I can still edit the template by going through Preferences>Add Your Own Columns, but it is difficult to edit the longer program templates in that smaller box, and as someone who just started learning this feature, I liked having the instant feedback of the previous editing window so I could see if I made a mistake without restarting Calibre to see if I return an error. I've looked through what feels like every option in the Preferences, but I cannot find a way to reenable the Editing Templates function. Am I missing something, or should I just roll back Calibre to a previous version? |

As far as I know it is always enabled and it works for me. But this is chaley's bailiwick, he will probably see this later.

It should work and works for me. However, editing the template is disabled of calibre is waiting to be restarted. And BTW: you can open the full template editor from the one line editor using right click

One more thing: if you have checked the box Preferences / Look & feel / Edit metadata / Tab key doesn't edit column templates in the book list then you must use F2 (or your platform edit key) to edit a template. Double click and other methods won't work.

OK thank you! I spent the afternoon rebuilding the library from scratch and it is working, as I got the same message if I restored a backup. But if it happens again I'll know what to try!
