I've just got my first ereader (Kobo Nia) and I want to set it up with Adobe Digital Editions to read library books on my ereader.
When I connect my Kobo to the computer, I get the screen to connect to PC, and then a screen that mentions that it's connected and charging, and it's stays on that screen Silly question time: should I just wait until it's finished charging before carrying on the setup? |

The battery will usually last a couple of weeks before needing to be recharged, so there's no real risk to completing the setup when the battery isn't fully charged, but now that you're charging it, you might as well finish, right?
Note that if your library uses OverDrive, you can check out books directly from the reader, without needing to use ADE. You only need ADE to read books from other library systems, such as CloudLibrary. |

Thank you - really looking forward to having good battery life.
However, I cannot seem to close / exit the screen that states that it is connected / charging to complete the setup with Adobe for use with the other kibrary systems. |

On your computer, use the "safely eject" function, then unplug the USB cable. You can't interact with the reader when it's connected to a computer, because the computer can modify the contents of the reader when you add or delete books from the internal storage. If you tried to use the reader at the same time, it would cause conflicts.

Thank you for your replies.
I safely ejected the device, unplugged the cable, and it did another update. After the update, Adobe on my laptop finally recognised my device and I could transfer the books that got from my other library ![]() |

Bluez said the "connected and charging" screen was blocking access to the device, which means it was still mounted and needed ejecting. Yes, you can read on the device while it's charging if it's not mounted, in which case the "connected and charging" screen won't appear.
