How to automatically update the epubs on my ebook reader
I use Calibre 5.44 on windows 10 x64 with the latest updates of windows.
My ebook reader is a Pocketbook Touch HD. I have all my ebooks in Calibre, use Calibre to edit them, and then send them to my ebookreader (connect using a USB Cable). However, sometimes I have missed something in an ebook (eg a writing mistake, or a grammatic error or changing a font-family...etc), and then I have to go back and change it in Calibre. Now, the version on Calibre is different from the version on my ebook reader. Normally, I delete the old version on the ebook reader and copy the new version to the ebook reader. However, I often forget to copy the new version to my ebook reader (old age creeping up). It would be nice to have a function that automatically updates the ebooks on the device, when I connect it to Calibre. Is this possible? I looked through the plugin list, but nothing struck me as useful. I searched in the forum, but none of the titles of the threads struck me as useful. I thought I had seen a thread like it, a few weeks ago at the most. Unfortunately I can not remember where I saw it and if it is relevant to my question. Maybe it has already been described but I missed the thread. Maybe it is not possible. I do not have any annotations in these books that might need to be transferred. Any pointers would be helpful, Thanks, Capricorn Last edited by Capricorn; 07-23-2022 at 12:56 PM. |

AFAIK it's not possible. At least I've never heard that it is.

Sirtel: thanks. I now do not have to continue searching the forums for some functionality that does not exist
theducks: Ahhh...the idea of a custom column never entered my mind. That would definitely help in seeing which ones I have changed. That is a clear step forwards. Cool. I will try that. Thanks. |

I usually mark such changed books with a tag, like "resend" or "changed". Basically does the same job as a custom column.

Perhaps you could make use of the template function formats_modtimes in a custom column and sort/search on it.

@Capricorn: You missed the Reading List plugin. That allows you to build lists of books. One of the options is to automatically send the books in the list to the device when it is connected. There are options about exactly how to do this, such as clearing the list after sending the book, or only sending books in the list that are not on the device.
