Calibre/Polish —> Access book description on Kindle

Hi there :-)

I encounter a problem for which I have not yet found a solution: I want to access the summary of each book on my kindle.

Spec: I use Calibre v6 and the Polish plugin, my kindle is a paperwhite 2021.

Procedure to reproduce this situation:
- Add any random epub on Calibre,
- Polish the epub,
- Open epub on calibre to check metadata page —> ok,
- Transfer ebook to kindle, Calibre converts it to mobi format,
- Open it on kindle or calibre —> In both cases metadata page has disappeared.

Caliber seems to convert the epub to mobi and remove the metadata page immediately (not very nice ^^).

I've searched on internet, Calibre doc but didn't find anything so far to help.

Convert your epub to mobi or azw3 in calibre first, making sure to check the option to insert metadata as first page.

First of all, thanks for all what you've achieved with Calibre!

I tried this solution: It works fine with azw3 files, not with mobi files.
Is that considered as normal?

Are you saying metadata is not being embedded as a page in mobi files by a conversion?

Exactly. When I use polish button, it polishes only epub.

Steps to reproduce:
1. grab epub here https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/5154
2. drop into calibre,
3. convert to mobi,
4. polish book


The window displays only epub polish logs: https://imgur.com/a/YcHzRNL.

original_epub confirms that epub file has been polished, but original_mobi doesn't exists. Viewing each file confirms this situation.

Weird: If I only convert epub to azw3, it polishes epub and azw3!

I sai dconvert not polish. polish only works on epub and azw3.
