Can't remove books

For some reason, I'm not able to delete books from my calibre program. I recently had to reinstall it as I formatted my hard drive. I added two books, without having the ReDRM plugin installed, so they were locked. I installed the plug in, and then went to remove the two books, but I'm getting an error that says:

SQLError: SQLError: no such module: fts5

I added the books again, and tried to merge the book records as a way around this, but get the same error.

If you are unable to re-upgrade to 5.x, the main way to fix this is to create a new library using the 'copy structure' option and then use Calibre to copy all the books over.

Better solution is to install Calibre 4.23.

How did I do that? And how do I undo that? I don't want to upgrade if I don't have to, as it messes with my plugins.

The bottom of my calibre program says calibre 4.8. If I download calibre 4.23, won't that give me the same problem in that somehow my database won't match up with my program?

4.23 is capable of using a calibre 5 database file, calibre 4.08 is not capable of doing so. An upgrade to 4.23 should not cause any issues with your plugins.

Thank you - I didn't realize 4.8 was earlier than 4.23. I've downloaded 4.23 and all is working as expected.

Thanks everyone for your help!

I have created a new library using the 'copy structure' option but can not figure out how to use Calibre to copy all the books over.

There's a 'copy to library' available in preferences > toolbars & menus -- it's possible you previously removed it if you have only library.

With the previous library loaded, select the book you want to move and right click on one of the selected books. Then from the dropdown menu, select Copy to library.
