No battery level status alert?
Having just received my first-ever second reader (an ex-demo Libra H2O), I set my Sage as shown in the screenshot attached. I wanted to be able to read to "almost empty" before switching to my backup device. When I checked for updates, I saw that it was 9%, and after that, my eyes remained glued to the device, eager to see what form the alter took. NO alert was given. What have I done wrong?

It's quite likely broken if you have autostandby enabled.

(Or broken, period, it's not a feature I've ever tested myself).

Ah, thanks. That's a small shame, but I guess having the screen go suddenly black will be a subtle hint that it's time to recharge.
