Factory Reset Oasis
I could get all "let me count the ways"I loath the new way Amazon has destroyed my beautifully created library. All my books are in collections by the author, and all my books are listed as text rather than horrible covers. I sideload everything to uniform the display for my vision issues.
ie DCI Logan 01 A Litter of Bones DCI Logan 02 Thicker Than Water etc. I really hope this is not the dumbest question ever asked. But if I placed my Oasis in airplane mode and did a factory reset would it give me back the old OS? I am asking as reloading 500 plus books and putting them back in collections is a huge job. One I would hate to do unless it gave me back the old OS. I would permanently keep it in airplane mode. ![]() |

If you are still on firmware 5.14.2, then factory reset would put you on the old UI as long as you don't sign into your Amazon account (since the new UI need to be remotely activated on this firmware).
If you are on firmware 5.14.3, then, no the new UI is enabled by default even if you don't sign into your account. Factory reset cannot downgrade the OS. |

A factory reset does not revert firmware versions on Kindle, and unless the Kindle is jailbroken, you cannot revert the UI changes or firmware version...
As for the UI, if you have the new UI, go to the library tab, tap the three line icon that is under the three dot icon in the top right, and then you can change how titles are sorted and displayed. Edit: Forgot to say, but there is no way to disable showing covers, but what is so horrible about them? Last edited by Badcatalex; 07-12-2022 at 12:42 PM. Reason: Clarified deets. |

I also don't really like not being able to turn off the covers. To me, they're useless when looking at the list view, because the images are too small. I never use grid view, because it's easier for me to read the title and author that way. I'm the person that always removed the dust covers from hardcover books because they got in the way, and I never really cared about the picture on the outside--the story on the inside is what matters to me. Besides, I'd rather create my own picture of what the story is about than look at someone else's interpretation. Shari |

When you have vision problems, covers can be very difficult to read. Add to that I tend to binge a series, most covers never list the number in the series.
It really makes my life difficult. I pretty much have to remove my entire library and only load what I plan to read or it simply gets far too difficult. |
